8-14-24 THOUGHTS
The picture of Israel’s history of the temple and the Holy of Holies place, has deep spiritual meaning. It’s the dwelling place of God, and a formidable veil prevented access to this place. God’s holiness was separated from man’s unclean commonness. Of course there’s the Day of Atonement [Lev 16] that hints at an eventual reconciliation , but the prophecies of Messiah must first happen. The new testament tells this reconciliation story, the gist of which is our reading below. The veil goes from being prohibitive... to ACCESSIVE in Jesus. A “new and living WAY” is pioneered, and we now have access to God with CONFIDENCE! It’s a GLORIOUS PICTURE. It took all of history, and God’s LOVE and GRACE and MERCY to paint it! Carefully absorb the words below from God’s Spirit. LET US DRAW NEAR!
Heb 9:6-8 Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests are continually entering the outer tabernacle performing the divine worship, 7 but into the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance. 8 The Holy Spirit is signifying this, that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the outer tabernacle is still standing,
Heb 10:19-23 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
My Prayer:
Thank You, O God, for such wonderful words, and the truth embedded in them. In joyful confidence, help us to draw near. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering. Help us to be good children. Help our hearts to be more sincere and assured. May the joy of Your salvation permeate our being. We praise You, O Lord God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
